Remote Energy Systems ("RES", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to remote-energy.au and any enquiry or quote forms on this site.
1. Who we are
Remote Energy Systems is a Western Australian energy systems business based in Perth, providing solar PV, battery storage, backup generators, off-grid systems and electrical infrastructure. For privacy enquiries, contact us at admin@remote-energy.au.
2. What information we collect
Enquiry and quote forms
When you submit an enquiry or quote request through this website, we collect the details you provide, which may include:
- Your name and phone number
- Your property location (suburb, town or region)
- Project details you describe (property type, current power setup, goals and questions)
- Optional information such as estimated budget range and current power bill
Uploaded photos and project information
Our quote form lets you optionally upload photos (for example switchboard, meter box, roof or site photos). These are used only to assess your project and prepare an accurate quote. Please don't upload photos containing personal information that isn't relevant to your enquiry.
Website and technical information
Like most websites, our hosting provider may log technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited and the date and time of your visit. This is used for security, performance and aggregate traffic analysis.
Cookies and analytics
This website may use essential cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, plus privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate traffic (for example, how many people visit and which pages are viewed). At the time of the last update of this policy, the website does not run Google Analytics, and any analytics used are not used to personally identify you.
Advertising and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel
We may advertise on Meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram). If we run Meta advertising, a Meta Pixel (a small piece of code) may be placed on this website to measure the effectiveness of our ads and, in some cases, to show our ads to people who have previously visited the site (remarketing). If and when a Meta Pixel is active, it may collect information such as pages visited and actions taken, which is shared with Meta in accordance with Meta's own privacy policy. You can opt out of Meta's use of cookies and pixels through your Facebook account settings and your device/browser ad preferences.
3. Why we use your information
We use the personal information we collect to:
- Respond to your enquiries and quote requests
- Prepare quotes and assess your project, including reviewing photos you provide
- Provide, plan and deliver our services to you
- Communicate with you about your enquiry, quote, project or warranty
- Contact you by phone, email or SMS in relation to your request
- Improve our website, services and marketing
- Meet legal, regulatory and record-keeping obligations (for example, electrical compliance records)
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for unrelated third-party marketing.
4. Third parties who process information on our behalf
We share personal information only with service providers who help us operate our business and website, and only to the extent needed to perform their functions. These may include:
- Google (form submissions): quote and enquiry forms on this site are processed through Google Apps Script / Google Workspace, so the details you submit (including uploaded photos) are transmitted to and stored on Google's infrastructure on our behalf, so they reach our team by email and in spreadsheets.
- Cloudflare (hosting/CDN & security): this website is delivered and protected by Cloudflare, which may log technical request data (such as IP address) for security and performance.
- Meta Platforms (advertising, if used): if we run Meta/Facebook advertising with a pixel, page-visit and conversion information is shared with Meta for ad measurement and remarketing, as described above.
- Communications tools: email, phone and SMS providers we use to contact you about your enquiry.
These providers process information only on our instructions. Some may store data outside Australia; where they do, we take reasonable steps to ensure comparable protection. We may also disclose information if required by law (for example, to electrical regulators or by court order).
5. How long we keep information
We keep enquiry and quote information for as long as needed to respond to your request and, if you become a customer, for the duration of the project and any applicable warranty, compliance or record-keeping period. Website analytics data is kept in aggregate form.
6. Security
This website uses HTTPS encryption, and access to enquiry records is limited to our team. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so while we take reasonable steps to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your choices and access
You may:
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or out of date
- Ask us to delete enquiry information we no longer need (subject to legal record-keeping obligations)
- Opt out of marketing communications at any time
To make a request, email admin@remote-energy.au. We will respond within a reasonable period. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be posted on this page with an updated "last updated" date.
